In an emergency, call 911 first

For any medical emergency, fire, or immediate danger, always call 911 before contacting us. Every Book Mira home displays its full street address inside the property (typically in the welcome book or on the refrigerator) so you can give it to emergency dispatchers quickly. After everyone is safe, please let us know what happened at 726-200-9081 — we answer urgent guest calls around the clock.

Home safety equipment

Our homes are equipped and regularly inspected for:

• Smoke detectors in sleeping areas and common spaces
• Carbon monoxide detectors in homes with fuel-burning appliances or attached garages
• Fire extinguishers in or near the kitchen
• First aid kits
• Clearly marked exits and posted emergency information in the welcome book

If you find any safety device missing, damaged, or beeping for battery, tell us right away and we will remedy it promptly.

Pool, hot tub, and water safety

• Never leave children unattended in or near pools, hot tubs, or bathtubs — there is no lifeguard at any of our properties.
• No diving in residential pools; depths are not designed for it.
• Keep gates and pool barriers closed and latched where present.
• Hot tubs are not recommended for young children, pregnant guests, or anyone with heart conditions; limit soak time and avoid alcohol while soaking.
• Glass containers should never be used in or around pool areas.

Beach and Gulf safety

Many of our homes are in Gulf Coast beach communities such as Gulf Shores, Destin, and Panama City Beach. Beaches there use a colored flag warning system — green (calm), yellow (moderate surf or currents), red (high hazard, strong surf and currents), double red (water closed to the public), and purple (dangerous marine life). Always check the flags before entering the water, respect double-red closures (entering the water can carry fines), swim near others, and never swim alone at night. Rip currents are the most common danger: if caught in one, stay calm, swim parallel to shore until free, then swim back at an angle.

Severe weather and hurricane season

Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November. If a storm threatens the area during your stay, monitor local authorities and follow all evacuation orders immediately — no reservation is worth riding out a storm. We monitor weather affecting our properties and will contact registered guests with guidance when a named storm is expected to impact a stay. Everyday precautions

• Lock doors and windows when you leave the property and overnight.
• Use grills outdoors only, away from structures, and never leave them lit unattended.
• Balconies: supervise children, don’t sit or lean on railings, and never climb between units.
• Follow posted occupancy limits — they exist for septic, fire, and insurance safety reasons.
• Report any maintenance or safety concern as soon as you notice it so we can fix it during your stay.
